We are a digital financial house with no branch business and specialize in offering our services online. For you, this means that you do not have to expect any restrictions in normal day-to-day business.

Our customer service is available from Monday to Friday from 08:00 am to 06:00 pm and temporarily you can also reach us on Saturday, Sunday and on public holidays from 09:00 am to 06:00 pm. The known contact details such as telephone numbers and email addresses are still valid.

Our tip: Pay contactless
For particularly hygienic payment, we recommend that you do not use cash entirely.
With your Fidor Smartcard you can now make contactless payments almost anywhere. For amounts up to € 50, a PIN is usually not required.
Alternatively, you can simply pay with your smartphone: With Apple Pay for iOS (for our private and business customers) or Fidor Pay via Android (exclusively for our private customers), there is no need to enter a PIN even for larger amounts. Hence, you can keep enough distance and easily authorize the payment via your smartphone.
Our emergency plan provides, among other things, that Fidor Bank is still accessible, that online banking can be carried out and that all important systems for processing booking and transfer transactions remain active for you.
We recommend that customers observe the general hygiene measures when handling cash, but also at self-service terminals, touch pads, cash register terminals, etc. The Federal Center for Health Education and the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), among others, provide current information on the risks of infection and protective measures.
Contactless payment in particular has a hygienic advantage, since you only have to bring your card or mobile phone close to the merchant's acceptance terminal in order to initiate the payment. We have increased the limit for contactless payments from € 25 to € 50 per transaction, where a PIN is usually not required. Alternatively, you can simply pay with your smartphone: using Apple Pay for iOS or Fidor Pay for Android (exclusively for our private customers), eliminating the need to enter a PIN, even for larger amounts. This allows you to keep enough distance and easily authorize your payments via your smartphone.

If you have suffered a loss of income or employment due to COVID-19, you can contact us for a three-month payment pause between April 1st and June 30th, 2020 on your loan repayments. A payment pause means you will not be required to make any repayments during the time frame, however, interest and fees will continue to accrue on your loan. This means at the end of the payment pause period your loan balance will be higher and your minimum repayments will increase slightly so that your loan can still be repaid within your loan term. Furthermore, the payment pause only applies to consumer loans, which were opened before March 15th, 2020.
If you want to apply for a payment pause, please consider that we approve or reject your request for a payment pause based on the legal regulations.
For the application review we require the following documents:
- Your last regular salary statement
- Your short-term work contract or the agreement concluded with your employer
- If applicable, your compulsory redundancies

Where can I find out about KfW loans as a self-employed person or entrepreneur?
KfW entrepreneur and ERP start-up loans can be applied for from KfW via banks and savings banks. Information on this is available on the KfW website (LINK). The KfW hotline for commercial loans is: 0800 539 9001.
Fidor Bank is not a contractual partner of KfW as it does not offer any SME loans or real estate loans.

Since KFW uses the credit application routes of established banks, we cannot make a uniform statement on this. Depending on the financial partner you are applying for, different documents will be required.
Fidor Bank is currently not a contractual partner of KfW, as it has so far not offered any loans for small and medium-sized companies or real estate loans. For this reason, no cooperation with KfW has so far been necessary. However, effects on this group of entrepreneurs can now be expected.
We as Fidor Bank also have customers who are affected by the crisis and who will need the help and loans announced by the government. We are very aware of that. For this reason, we strive for a quick connection to KfW. However, when we can start a future cooperation is still open. We are also dependent on cooperation with KfW, which itself works under high pressure. For example, we are currently unable to make any specific statements as to when an application will be possible through us. We regret this very much.

In the current Corona times, small business owners, medium-sized companies and freelancers can benefit from guarantee banks. The guarantor bank is a non-profit promotional institution and exists in every federal state. They all offer 80 percent default guarantees up to EUR 1.24 million in guarantees with insufficient collateral.
Bundes- and Landesbanken are aimed at SMEs and larger companies. Here too, the conditions differ depending on the federal state.
For traders who want to find out more about the specific measures in their federal states, the best thing to do is to go to the website of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK): This has all relevant information which is updated continuously.
Via the „IHK-Finder“ you can quickly find the representatives responsible for your own federal state and their websites.
The Federal Government is resolutely and vigorously opposing the economic effects of the Corona Virus. A wide range of measures will protect jobs and support companies. Companies and businesses are provided with sufficient liquidity so that they can get through the crisis well.
The following measures are currently in prospect:
- Due taxes are to be deferred without interest if sales have slumped due to the Corona crisis. This is done through instructions to the tax authorities, which for most taxes are in the federal states. There should be an easier procedure for this.
- Tax pre-payments are easier to adjust, at least for income and corporate tax. This should also be possible in an uncomplicated manner. However, it is still unclear whether this also applies to sales tax and trade tax.
- Enforcement measures such as attachment of accounts are suspended until December 31, as long as the taxpayer is affected by the effects of the Corona Virus - the Federal Government announced.

Basically, bookings / travel bookings / travel contracts are still valid. If you have a right of withdrawal, we recommend that you exercise this right.
If there is no right of withdrawal, it depends on whether the dealer was willing and able to provide the service.
The Mastercard® transaction can only be booked back if the event has been canceled, the hotel has been closed or the flight does not take place.
Please contact your provider or tour operator to find out whether the booked event or trip is taking place in principle.
- If a concert / flight is canceled / prohibited, the customer is entitled to a credit. This means that the amount paid back can be re-booked via the Mastercard® chargeback procedure with the justification “Service not Provided” via the bank.
- If a hotel is still open, but the guest cannot / does not want / may not arrive, the amount paid cannot be booked back via the bank or Mastercard®.
- If a flight takes place, but the customer cannot / does not want / may not fly, the amount paid cannot be re-booked via the bank or Mastercard®.
The Mastercard® transaction can only be booked back if the event has been canceled, the hotel has been closed, the flight has not taken place, and so on.If there is no cancellation on the part of the provider, we unfortunately have no right to make a bank transfer request.
Unfortunately, the possibility of rebooking via Mastercard® does not offer an exception for acts of God.
In such a case, we ask you to find an agreement with your contractual partner (provider / tour operator).
If you paid for the trip with your Mastercard®, the transaction can be reversed if the provider / tour operator has canceled or rejected the transaction.
In this case we will be happy to place a remittance order for you. Please forward the documents available to you, including the cancellation, for review.
